The Mission Operations
Laboratory at the Marshall
Space Flight Center is preparing to meet the needs of NASA's
future missions.
A research and prototyping project is underway to develop a new
planning and scheduling system that could be configured to support
a variety of programs. Imagine scientists planning and scheduling
their own experiments from their own lab. Imagine astronauts
autonomously planning their daily activities while, at the same
time, ground controllers schedule and maintain the infrastructure
of the spacecraft or moon base. This system, called Nexus, is
based on the Mission Operations Laboratory's 30+ years of experience
in planning and scheduling manned space activities. [learn
